It is with great pleasure to announce that Veith House will be taking part in the fifth annual Doors Open Halifax event.
The goal of Doors Open Halifax is to make available to the general public, free access to buildings of historical, contemporary or architectural significance and to generate interest in our built environment.
From June 3rd – 4th, 10 am – 4 pm our doors will be open for all to come and learn the history of Veith House along with seeing the part it has to play in the community today.
Linda LeBlanc came to Veith House/The Halifax Protestant Orphanage in 1957 as an 8 year old with her 5 siblings. She will provide free tours on June 3 and 4, at 10am, 11:30am, and 2pm and walk you through what the house used to be, and share some of her memories during her time there as a resident, and later as a matron. She will also have copies of her book, “That Foster Kid,” available for sale. http://
