ZHARA D –YMCA Immigrant Programs 

  • Program highlighting work that they are doing with newcomer community 

  • Hosting a workshop that is trying to bring everyone together to help support women & children and raise awareness of domestic violence

  • Community outreach with workshops, will come to your organizations 

  • Somali community,  11 new families, helping navigate resources within the community (Uniacke and Fairview) 


Hosting workshops to training organizations and service providers on how to create a welcoming environment for immigrants and newcomers

3rd Annual Community Family over Fame July 20th TA, community day, bring in artists, motivational speakers, face painting, food, 

Held: Uniacke Square 

The Nest: In partnership with one north end, common goods, INOVA fund micro loans to African NS individuals ( currently women) 

Been operating for 1 month and has reached 20,000

  • NS Construction Sector council & Apprenticeship agency have come up with a trades family boot camp 

  • Several 1 day camps for kids 3-6, one in July, majority in August – exposes children to variety of trades 

  • Apprenticeship agency seeking an organization to bring people into these camps 

  • Looking for organizations that will take on this program & find kids, #of parents that will attend with child (1-2 ratio), FREE, Transportation provided, lunch provided and healthy snack, safety equipment provided. Contact trades exhibition coordinator to find out dates
