Yoga takes place on Tuesday mornings from 10-11:30 am, pay-what-you-can

Caregivers circle is open to everyone on Wednesday mornings from 10am-12pm. Anyone who is caring for young children ages 0-5 are welcome to come in and socialize in our play space.

March Break camp is full.

Summer camp registration begins April first. We are waiting for approval on the fees but will let everyone know once they have been confirmed.

HACL is working with a Dalhousie student to create an infographic that outline the renters rights for people with disabilities

Continuing work on a resource map of the Halifax Peninsula that shows 20 different service providers.

Community Fridge → there will be 5 locations in the Halifax area (one at each Family SOS location and then 3 others). Anyone can bring food to put in the fridge, and anyone who needs additional food resources can take what they need.

Doing a bike drive, anyone who wants to donate a new or used bike may do so. Working with partners to fix up bikes and ensure safety before distributing to children in the community.

RibFest will take place July 2-5th at Alderney Landing → as a Rotary Club event, all money goes back into the international and local initiatives they support

Recognition of International Women’s Day by sponsoring a panel of Women discussing their professional journey and ways to navigate

The Quinpool rd. location has moved and merged with Passport Canada at a new site on Argyle.

On Saturday from 10am to 3pm the CRA and Province will be having a Super clinic at the Captain William Spry Rec Centre in Spryfield.

Supports newcomer families facing any issues, they provide crisis prevention and intervention. Feel free to share that this service is available.

Sundays there is Arabic classes and a new STEM program for youth girls in grades 7-9.

A new studio space has been found at 2482 Maynard st. and they are working towards making the space accessible.

Open studio is on Friday and Saturdays from 2-4:30 and 5-7. There are studio artists on site and materials available for public use.

Afternoon Shift is a program for youth ages 15-30 and their support networks. It focuses on Youth Mental Health and Wellness & is sponsored by Medavie. Anyone is welcome to drop in Wednesday Afternoons from 1-4pm. If timing is an issue, Wonder’Neath is willing to come to groups of 10-15 people.

Art Bikers are now hiring 2 positions (open to anyone under 30, one person returning to school and one not). Applicants no longer need to own their own bikes.
Mara - Reachability

The Employment program is now opened to anyone who needs support

Success 40 is a program for people who may not be ready or are in need of more support in finding work (have more barriers in place). This is an 8 week program.

Employment Bootcamp is a 4 week program

Both include workshops for interview skills, resumé writing, job coaching etc.

The city is working on a naturalization project at Merv Sullivan Park (The Pit) to utilize some of the unused green space. There will be a kid friendly event day for volunteers to help redo the space and plant seeds.

Step Up to Leadership (18+) is a program to teach about leadership, starting a nonprofit, running a board of directors, etc. Tuesdays starting March 24 from 6:30-9pm for nine weeks. Registration required.

Community Garden applications are due by March 15th, possibility of extension until March 31st.
