Veith House offers year-round Child and Youth programming and support!

Our programming room provides a safe, inclusive space for children and youth to be themselves and have fun!

We have lots of arts and crafts supplies, board games, electronics (computers, tv, Xbox, etc..), musical instruments, toys and more.

After School Program


We are excited to announce our NEW after school program!

Join us every Thursday after school from 4-6pm.

This program is completely free of charge for children ages 8+.

Snacks will be provided.

Registration is required.

Summer Day Camp Leader (3 positions) 

Veith House is a neighbourhood hub that provides a wide range of services and opportunities to Halifax residents, connecting them with one another to build a healthier, more vibrant community. Our Summer Day Camp runs through July and August, serving children ranging in ages from 4 to 11 years. The Summer Camp Leaders will work with our school aged campers (4-11 years) and will be responsible for the day to day care and safety of our participants. Day Camp Leaders will ensure quality, inclusive, and meaningful programming for all participants.

Responsibilities and Tasks
 •Assisting with the preparations for the camp (setting up tables and chairs, assisting in game and craft setup, putting away supplies, distribute craft supplies as needed)
 •Make sure the facilities and play areas are clean and safe for children
 •Help plan, organize and lead games, crafts, activities, and field trips
 •Supervision of campers during activities, crafts, games, play, and field trips (supervision may involve standing and walking for long periods of time)
 •Facilitating, leading and organizing the kids for set programs (games, arts & crafts, special event, or etc.)
 •Make sure children are following health and safety rules as per Covid-19 restrictions (social distancing, hand washing, and hand sanitizing)

 •Must be 15 years of age
 •Experience working with or volunteering in a child care setting would be considered an asset
 •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
 •The ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time inside and outdoors
 •Ability to work as a part of a team
 •Reliability
 •First Aid/CPR an asset
 •Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) required
 •Child Abuse Registry required
